Our king bed was really so comfortable and we didn’t feel like getting up. But we had to catch the sunrise this morning. By the time we opened our eyes, it was half past 5 in the morning. So we dragged our tired body and hurriedly left the room. We walked towards the end of the building and went up to the open balcony facing the beach. We just hoped we hadn’t missed the sunrise over here.
When we stepped out to the balcony, it was still pretty dark. Over the northern coast, it was overcast. The ground over at Premier Village Resort was getting brighter though. Some of the villas had their lights turned on. Perhaps guests were already up like us to catch sunrise this morning. The sky towards the south was slightly brighter than the north. It was nevertheless quite cloudy as well.
The beach ahead was quiet with clouds on the horizon. Beach goers were already out on the beach exercising and waiting for sunrise as well. Last year, we were on the beach as well. But because we woke up a little late, we decided just to come out to this balcony on the top floor to wait for the sun to rise.
It was very windy out here this morning. Due to the overcast sky, the sun seemed to be taking a vacation. We waited for quite a long time and was getting bored and tired but the sun seemed to have overslept. There was little we could do and going back to sleep would have wasted our effort. So we continued waiting. Continue reading 6 Days Central Vietnam Tour (2017) – Day 6 Danang
After a great day of fun at Riyuegu Hotsprings Resort, we were ready to head to Xiamen City for some sight-seeing and shopping. However, first thing was to go for breakfast at this nice resort. We went to the restaurant at the lobby level. It was already very busy when we reached there. More tables were set up at the corridor outside the restaurant to cater to the crowd at the resort.
We didn’t see so many guests at the resort the day before. Perhaps they might be out visiting attractions around Xiamen. We got an empty table nevertheless and enjoyed a nice breakfast. They staff were still pleasant and friendly despite being so busy first thing in the morning.
Mineral Hotspring Bath in Room
Since we couldn’t check in to our new hotel in the city till around noon time, we still had time to enjoy the facility in Riyuegu Hotsprings Resort. Instead of heading out to the swimming pools and the outdoor hotspring pools, we decided just to use the mineral pool in our bathrooms. So we took turns and had a good soak this morning.
Once we were done having enjoyed our nice hotspring bath, we packed up and went to the lobby to check out. It was a pleasure to deal with their front desk staff, always so patient, helpful and friendly. We had already booked the shuttle bus service to Xiamen Island earlier. So we just had to wait a short while for the bus ride. The lobby was busy with new deco being set up for Christmas.
Shuttle Bus to Xiamen Island
Soon, our shuttle bus pulled up at the entrance. We boarded this very nice and comfy bus and then left Riyuegu Hotsprings Resort. We were very impressed with the resort and the staff here. My wife and I might come back on our own the next time we visit Xiamen. Continue reading 11 Days Free and Easy China Tour – Day 7 Xiamen
Train to Keelung
We would be going to Keelung this morning. We had already booked the 5-star Evergreen Laurel Hotel at Keelung harbourfront. So we got up early and had a simple breakfast with the bread we bought the previous night at the bakery in Miramar Complex. We then packed up and checked out early.
With Daan MRT Station right at the doorsteps of Park Taipei Hotel, we took a train to Taipei Main Train Station, just five stations away. It was still very early and all the shops at the underground mall were closed. We then walked over to the railway station and took the next local train to Keelung. It was a smooth journey taking around 50 minutes to reach Keelung.
Arrive Evergreen Laurel Hotel
Once we got out of the railway station, we saw Evergreen Laurel Hotel over the other side of the harbour. The city was rather quiet so early in the morning and road traffic was light. So we took a slow walk of under 15 minutes to reach Evergreen Laurel Hotel orientating ourselves along the way.
This hotel is probably the best in Keelung, pretty modern and clean. Service staff were polite, friendly and helpful. It was too early to check in as we arrived around 9.45 am. We left our bags with the hotel and having gotten direction from front desk, we left the hotel to take a bus up to Jiufen for our first itinerary for the day.
Bus 788 to Jiufen for Shopping
The bus stop is located along the road behind Evergreen Laurel Hotel. So we followed the direction and walked over to the bus stop to wait for bus 788. It was a just a few minutes walk. A couple of minutes later, the bus came and we boarded the bus. The bus ride took us through part of Keelung City and then headed up the hill towards Jiufen. Slightly after an hour, we arrived Jiufen. Continue reading 5 Days 4 Nights Northern Taiwan Tour – Day 4 Keelung (June 2016)
Danang Beach is one of the best places to catch sunrise from the South China Sea. So we got up very early slightly before 5 am this morning. Having changed, we walked slowly to the beach to wait and watch sunrise from this private beach of Pullman Danang Beach Resort. It was still dark and windy as we made our way to the beach.
By the time we got to the beach, many beach goers were already there before us. Some were strolling on the beach while others were jogging. A few were swimming in the sea as well. Of course there were those like us loitering on the beach waiting to catch sunrise this morning.
It was still a little dark but the sky soon turned light blue. Tints of pink then appeared on the horizon colouring the sky prettily and slowly spreading upward across the entire sky above the sea. The beach was a picture of serenity, so tranquil with very little disturbance in spite of the presence of beach goers. It was just past full moon two days ago and the moon could still clearly be seen hanging above Pullman Danang Beach Resort partially hidden among clouds.

Despite our room facing the main road, we could sleep soundly through the night. Road traffic along this road connecting ancient town and Cua Dai Beach was relatively low. Hence, noise issues weren’t a problem. There are villas further inside the property where close to absolute tranquility is possible with the occasional chirping of birds and sometimes crowing of roosters.
We would be heading to Pullman Danang Beach Resort later in the morning. Transfer was already arranged with East West Villas. We had indicated we would like our breakfast to be served in our room balcony, so we didn’t have to head out for our meals.
While we were resting after getting up from bed, there was a knock on the door. When we opened the door, the villa staff brought in a huge tray of food. All the items were nicely set up on the table at the balcony. There was so much food and the table was almost completely filled. There were western scrambled eggs set that came with baguette and also the local Vietnamese pho. The breakfast set also included fruit juice and coffee as well as fruits.
It was such a sight with the table fully filled with food at the balcony overlooking the quiet and serene swimming pool below. The smell of the food was heavenly and immediately, we felt hungry. So we settled down to enjoy our delicious breakfast set under this wonderful setting. It was so calm and peaceful. This was a great breakfast indeed.
After this fabulous meal, we got ready, packed up and waited for time to check out. We had already arranged with the villa to send us a vehicle to bring us to Danang. Meanwhile, we enjoyed this lovely villa room a little longer watching TV. After a final round chatting with the children back home to update them on our travel plans for the day, we took our bags and went downstairs to check out. After a tiring day cycling to Hoi An ancient town in the morning and visiting again at night, the sleep was sweet. We got up to another wonderful morning full of sunshine. We would be moving over to East West Villas later in the morning. This accommodation is located between the ancient town and Cua Dai Beach.
When we were ready, we went down to explore Hoi An Sincerity Hotel and checked out the garden again. The garden was well kept and this garden supplied vegetables to the restaurant. It was going to be another hot day again but the garden was well watered and green.
We then stepped into the restaurant for breakfast. Once again, the friendly staff greeted us by names and sat us down. The restaurant was busy in the morning. We collected our food and then enjoyed the wonderful breakfast. The food was really delicious.
After breakfast, we made another round to check out Hoi An Sincerity Hotel. This hotel was new and really clean and spacious. Service staff were genuinely friendly and helpful as well. The hotel provides regular shuttle service to the ancient town and the beach for those who are not keen to cycle to explore Hoi An. Actually, this is a safer way if you are not very skillful riding a bicycle. We then returned to our room.
Back in our room, we packed and got ready to check out to move to our new accommodation. We were actually quite excited and wondered what villa we were going to put up today. We rested a short while as it was still too early to check in at the other accommodation. But we were getting restless and eventually we checked out and left Hoi An Sincerity Hotel.
We got into a taxi and we were on our way travelling towards ancient town first and then turned left towards Cua Dai Beach. It was a straight road and traffic wasn’t very heavy. We saw cyclists on the road, most of them tourists. They were probably cycling to the beach. In about 20 minutes, we arrived at East West Villas. Since there was nothing to watch on TV due to the passing of the Thai king, we slept quite early. Hence we also woke up early. When our stomach started calling, we went to the restaurant for breakfast.
We thought we were going for breakfast early, however, the restaurant was already quite packed with hotel guests. Occupancy rate was quite high for this popular hotel located in the middle of Patong. So the restaurant was a little noisy.
We managed to be seated and regular coffee was served to us. But the restaurant staff were very busy and hardly had time for small chats like the day before. They were obviously rather stressed up with tourists from certain countries.
We went to collect our food and surprisingly, we found the breakfast spread here better than what we had over at Novotel Kata Avista Resort. The variety and quality of food here were very good. We went to get food a few rounds, a little each time to sample the food here.
After many of the noisy tourists left the restaurant, one of the staff asked whether we would like to have some special coffee. We were of course delighted and we requested for mocha to wash down the wonderful breakfast we had just moments ago.
Shuttle Bus to Patong Beach
Back in our room after the sumptuous breakfast, we rested for a while and made ourselves comfortable. We would be heading out to Patong Beach for some shopping. Near to 10 am, we went to the lobby. Grand Mercure Hotel provides regular shuttle service to Patong Beach and Jungceylon Mall as well as Central Festival in Phuket Town.

The suite room at Novotel Kata Avista Resort was great. We had a very good night sleep. Pulling away the curtains, it was already daylight. We had three balconies to walk out to for a good morning view of the surrounding. Kata Beach was very peaceful in the morning. No sunrise to watch from the resort here as the sun rose from behind the hills of Kata Town from our vantage point.
We went down to the restaurant for breakfast. The buffet spread for breakfast at this 5-star resort wasn’t lavish but was pretty good. There was the usual international fare with the local mixed of food options. We collected our food and enjoyed our breakfast.
After another round of servings, we decided not to stuff ourselves with more food. There would be more eating later in the day when we moved over to Grand Mercure Hotel at Patong Beach. We were actually looking forward to staying in Patong to do some shopping. Continue reading 3 Days 2 Nights Phuket Vacation Day 2
